All That We Are
In 2007, our story began with a few college freshmen sewing pockets and passing out provisions in the alleys of downtown Los Angeles. The first person we met was a caring man named Larry. Larry helped us realize that our mission could not simply be about providing handouts, but about providing opportunity within a supportive community.
For seven years, we sewed and sold clothing so that we could return to our street and offer a foothold to our friends who were ready to transition out of homelessness. In short, we tested the power of community. Our community found hope in companionship, and saw chronically homeless men and women find homes off of the streets of Skid Row.
In 2014, we built our outreach into our products. We hired a wonderful woman named Q to sew our pockets alongside us as she transitioned out of homelessness. Now when you purchase our clothing, you participate in a cycle of giving: your purchase allows our employees to give the same opportunities that they have been given, to others.
Ours is the story of an atypical community in the pursuit of empowerment, connection, and awareness. Join us in a LifeSewnTogether.
